The Reading Café is a free event that takes place in Burton-on-Trent Library in Staffordshire, UK.* It has been running for nearly two years, and we like to think of it as a haven where anyone can come and talk about books they have read over a tea or coffee. There is no reading list, the atmosphere is very informal, and you can drop in briefly or stay for hours. Most people do the latter. It’s also a great opportunity to tell the librarian what books should be in stock – and give one or two personal recommendations. Where else can you do all the above?
*Though occasionally we have been seen out and about in the local villages in our big red gazebo – see Previous Reading Café events.
